Years ago, I found a very old book called “The Godmother’s Tales” in a used-book store.
When I remarked that the price seemed a bit high, the clerk said that if I was going to
collect antiquarian books, I should be prepared to spend some money.
“Oh,” I said, “I don’t collect old books. I read them.”
And yes, I bought “The Godmother’s Tales”.
Unfortunately, it’s one of the books that were lost when I moved from Brooklyn.
