Rosary Haikus

ArtyBee53 (ChelleBee53)

Summary:

Rosary meditations in the form of the Japanese haiku.

The Joyful Mysteries

The Annunciation

Had Mary said “No,”
when Gabriel came to her,
she’d not be Mary.

The Visitation

Like John in the womb,
may our hearts leap for joy
at the Lord’s Presence

The Nativity

The King of Heaven,
born in Earthly poverty,
and simplicity.

The Presentation

Mary and Joseph,
bringing Christ to the Temple,
present God to God.

The Finding Of The Child Jesus In The Temple

Jesus with the Doctors.
Oh, that someone had preserved
all that was spoken.

The Luminous Mysteries

The Baptism Of Jesus

Did Jesus and John
ever play in the water
when they were children?

The Wedding At Cana

Water into wine,
sweet grape taste. Later, sweeter,
wine into His Blood.

The Proclamation Of The Kingdom

The Kingdom is here!
Repent! Repent and believe!
Above all, rejoice!

The Transfiguration

Transfigured Jesus,
cleanse all my soul’s stains. Make it
pure as whitest light.

The Institution of the Eucharist

I receive the Host,
Jesus in the form of Bread,
Bread that consumes me.

The Sorrowful Mysteries

The Agony In The Garden

Lord, as the Angel
strengthened You, come strengthen me
when I am afraid.

The Scourging At The Pillar

Those vicious lashes!
I shudder, Lord, when I think
men could be so cruel.

The Crowning With Thorns

I want a gold crown,
but shrink from having to share
the Lord’s Crown of Thorns.

The Carrying Of The Cross

I get my portion
of the Cross Jesus carried
splinter by splinter.

The Crucifixion

When Christ prayed, “Forgive,
for they know not what they do,”
He also meant me.

The Glorious Mysteries

The Resurrection

Because Christ arose
We too shall arise, through His
sweet lovingkindness.

The Ascension

Christ has ascended.
May we always be ready
for when He returns.

The Descent Of The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit came,
giving fearful men courage
to spread the Gospel.

The Assumption

How could Christ’s sinless
Virgin Mother NOT have been
borne up to Heaven?

The Coronation

Does the Virgin’s Crown
add to her beauty? No. She
beautifies her Crown.
