For A Bowlful Of Beans

Summary:
A slightly tongue-in-cheek Bible story I wrote several years ag
Jacob was stirring a pot of beans when his twin brother, Esau, came in from the field.
“Give me some of those red beans,” Esau said. “I’m starving!”
“First sell me your birthright,” Jacob insisted. “Do you think it’s easy standing here, stirring these beans and
making sure they don’t burn?”
“You can have it. What good is a birthright to me if I starve to death?”
Jacob gave Esau a bowlful of beans and some bread.
Esau wolfed down his meal, and then he got up, belched, and went on his way.
Esau didn’t care beans about his birthright.
