Young And In Love

Perhaps “in love” is too strong a phrase for the way I felt about him. After all, I wasn’t quite eight years old when it began. And when I was ten years old, it ended, and I was heartbroken. It might not even be an exaggeration to say that I was absolutely devastated.

Was this a boy I went to school with?
No.
I never met him, but whenever he appeared on screen, I would be absolutely cemented to the tv set, totally enraptured.

So, was he a famous actor, or one of the popular singers of that time?
No, but with his, and I quote, boyish good looks, and his Boston accent, he could have been a movie star.

I wished I could meet him in person…. I daydreamed about what that
would be like.

And then on a day I will never forget, the dream was abruptly, irreparably shattered.
